First truly solo board game I've played so my review may be a little biased. Slightly at the mercy of the dice but does offer a lot of control when trying to gamble your resources to mitigate things or how to deal with the consequences.
A lot of replay ability and is fairly easy to setup. I've had vastly different experiences the three times I've played through the game, easily getting my money's worth. There's still loads of content I haven't seen. War doctrine really itches that Silent Hunter feeling.
The product feels nice; every piece is put together well, everything has a place and is just a delight to handle.
If you don't like the randomness of die rolls might be best to avoid this one. However there is a tone of mitigation that can be applied, but are you willing to push your luck and risk those precious resources to mitigate that crucial role to help Nemo reach the final challenge. Great production components, deep strategic decisions and lots of replay-ability.
The learning curve in this one is pretty steep but it's worth it - a very detailed game which faithfully captures the world of Nemo and the Nautilus. A must buy for solo game fans, and fans of the book on which the game is based.
Beautifully designed solo game. Every turn you have a myriad of choices. It feels thematic; Nemo against the world.
Highly recommend for any solo player.
It’s a perfect solo game! Theme is very well implemented. All those texts from original story gives a lot of flavour to the game. Since you roll dice for everything it can feel like there is a heavy chance factor but actually it’s all about mitigating risks and taking hard decisions if needed, as if Captain Nemo himself would do!
