The only thing missing from this game is a side board featuring a Rugby Match - Great Western Trail NZ features just about everything that board game enthusiasts like in games, variable win conditions, the option to play friendly or mean, relatively easy to get into and play, but with lasting complexity to never get stale. Just make sure you give yourself an hour before the game group arrives to set the thing up as there are A LOT of components. Quite similar to the original great western trail, with just a few variations that both expand and streamline the game - and it's sheep instead of cows, which of course makes all the difference.

We've played this a few times now, it's been a learning curve but once you understand what all the symbols mean that games speeds up. Each game is different and I love it because there is so much goin' on. I thought I was in the lead but I forgot that my parents purchase a 7 point sheep which game them the game 😂. I haven't played the other great Western Trail games but I think this is all you'll need. Set up is a pain so make sure to get everything out beforehand so you can get right to playing once the rest of the group arrives.

I would also highly recommend picking up a few extra ziplock bags to sort out all the players tokens into their own bags. How it comes in the box makes set up difficult. Out of the box all the players tokens are mixed into types rather than colour.
