Century: Golem Edition is a re-themed version of Century: Spice Road set in the world of Caravania. In Century: Golem Edition, players are caravan leaders who travel the famed golem road to deliver crystals to the far reaches of the world. Each turn, players perform one of four actions:

Establish a trade route (by taking a market card)
Make a trade or harvest crystals (by playing a card from hand)
Fulfill a demand (by meeting a victory point card's requirements and claiming it)
Rest (by taking back into your hand all of the cards you've played)
The last round is triggered once a player has claimed their fifth victory point card, then whoever has the most victory points wins.

Really great game for newer board gamers

Century Golem is a beautiful game that has been really good fun for people that are just starting to get into board games. Not too many rules and easy to understand and get the hang of. Would recommend!

For those who love Splendor this is a must buy! Just wish the game allowed for more than 5 players. Played with many friends (adults) and all love the game.

Century Golem

Instructions were easy to understand – my 10yrs old taught me the game after teaching himself in 30-60mins, and I just reviewed to make sure he was correct.

After a few games both my kids thought the 'perform 1 play per person' was a little empty. They have both opted to change the rules to, 'perform 2 plays per person'. This helps each person set up a better individual strategy, and slows the game down a little to allow players to have a little more 'thinking time' as they review the next possible moves.

Minimum play time has been 30min, but game time can be around the 45-60 minutes.

There is little interaction between players, as the game plays out. This is a shame and a big missing element – an element that could have been added to make a better playing experience. One possible addition to help this could be: when its your turn, you have the choice to swap one of your 'Point cards' with another player, to help swing play around in your favour and force strategy re-thinking.

In all, the game has the potential to be better – to be more engaging and playful. It would be good to see an updated or advanced version, if one is ever made.

For what the game offers, it seems a little over priced – even with a discount.

As it stands, the game would appeal to younger kids.
