Flesh and Blood TCG Welcome to Rathe Hero Deck Set (4 Decks)
The last time i play a trading card game was back in 2012. I told myself no more, i'm done with this format of gaming! That is until I discover Flesh and Blood TCG.
In Flesh and Blood TCG you control a single powerful combatant and the premise of the game is to reduce your opponent combatant of 0 life. There are 4 different classes to choose from and they are. Warrior, Brute, Ninja and Guardian. They all have a intellect of 4 your hand size and life of 40. The start also comes with the young version of the character everything the same except they have a life total in 20 instead.
Unlike a lot of TCG, you start with your weapon or weapons (if you are Katus the ninja) and your Armour in play (Head, Chest, Arm and Leg). The rest of the 60 cards in your deck are Action, Attack action, Attack reaction, Defense reaction and instant cards.
Each of these classes have a very distant play style.
The Warrior have Reprise. If your opponent defend an attack, some of your attack reaction gets a damage boost.
The Brute have Intimidate. He force you to randomly banish a card from your hand temporary thus giving you less option.
The Ninja has Combo. He chain smaller attack that combo out to bigger attack.
The Guardian has Crush. When he deal a certain amount of damage. Your attack might be weaker or you can't use your character ability for the turn.
The cards in your play deck have 6 key information.
The Pitch value. This value can be 1, 2 or 3. This is how much resource the card generate when you pitch it.
The Cost. Majority of the cards have a cost. That how much resource you have to paid to play it. Of the majority this could range from 0 to 4.
Its Power. How much damage it deals .
Its Defense. How much damage it blocks.
Ability if the card do anything else special.
And finally its type. There are the Action, Attack action, Attack reaction, Defense reaction and instant cards. There are either Generic or a specific Class. ie Warrior can only have warrior action cards. But everyone can use Generic cards.
Apart from the above most card have 3 version. Red version generate 1 resource but have high Power or a better effect. Yellow generate 2 resource, average power average effect. Blue, generate 3 resource, weakest power and weakest effect.
Game play is fairly straight forward. You and your opponent start with your weapon(s), armour in play and draw up to your intellect.
Randomly determine who go first.
Whoever going first now have 1 action point to use it to play a card or card effect that is already on the table.
Once you have chosen your action. you now have to pay for its Cost by pitching a card for its resource value. Once the card effect is resolve the card goes to the discard pile (graveyard) and you go through the ending sequence of your turn. Unless the card let you "Go Again".
In that case you get an action point and you get to play another card. Note any excess resource you pitch earlier can still be use.
Once you play a card that doesn't let you go again the ending sequence begin. Once that is resolve, play is pass to your opponent.
You go back and forth until someone hit 0 life.
If you never go beyond the starter deck the four classes are balance and a lot of fun to play. Game play is straight forward but mastering it will take time. How you spend resources and manage your deck bring a unique challenge. Since cards you pitch for resources will end up as your draw card in the late stages of the game. This is where the game shines for me. Do I go for big attacks at the start but end up with weaker attack card? or do less at the start and go for a big finish in the end?
I hope you will give Flesh and Blood a try. It a great game and Legend Story Studio have a lot of great support for it also. If you like to know more check out website at www.fabtcg.com
