Overboss is the latest tile-placement game to my collection and it's easily one of my favourites already. The variability of the game is huge with multiple scoring pathways, add in options, and scaling for every consideration of gaming group.
I honestly am so impressed with this game, from design, to production and back again, I am yet to find something about it I don't love.
It's fun, it's simple to teach and play and yet it has complex strategy and scoring. I love a game that feels like it grows with player experience. We have enjoyed this game with other adults, as a two player experience and when playing with our children.
It's like they have designed a 'build your own' board game. You can add in and take out whatever you like to suit such a vast and diverse range of players.
If you have young players, use the easy set up.
If you are experienced players, use the expert game add ins! If your group is particularly keen on sabotage, use the command cards which will help you mess with each other's boards. If you are a solo player, it has an awesome campaign ready to go! It's a game for everyone!
This game really raises the bar for accessible gaming and I hope more designers and publishers continue to take this pathway!
